Kampala: The Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) has joined other Government agencies to register COVID-19 cases after 10 staff contracted the deadly coronavirus.
Among the confirmed cases are 332 samples that were taken on 21st August, 2020 from staff at UBC Kampala office for which results 160 samples have been received that came with bad news of ten infected staff.
This has been revealed through the statement issued by the management that reads;
“As you may already be aware, our beloved country Uganda has recently experienced a spike in Covid-19 cases with the majority reported in our capital city, Kampala.
As a socially responsible government agency that is not only passionate about the safety of our staff but also the health of the general public we serve, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) took a decision to conduct testing of all our staff for Covid-19.
The cases are from 332 samples that were taken on 21st August, 2020 from staff at our Kampala office for which results 160 samples have been received that confirmed 10 cases positive.
As part of our commitment towards the fight against Covid-19 and in line with efforts to prevent further spread, Management, together with the Ministry of Health have since embarked on the recommended health care management processes for all the affected persons and commenced contact tracing.
The Corporation would like to assure the general public that we are committed to playing our part in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and we shall continue to serve the public whilst observing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that were put in place by the Ministry of Health.”
