Gov’t releases School calendar 2020/21 & UNEB timetable, sets dates for reopening

The ministry of education and sports has released the 2020/21 school calendar indicating how candidates in primary, secondary, technical/farm schools and community polytechnics will resume studies after the Covid-19 lockdown.

The calendar, which was released by Alex Kakooza, the ministry’s permanent secretary, shows that Term I will start on October 15 and end on December 18, while Term III will start on Jan. 11, 2021, and end on April 30, 2021.

Holidays for the second term will start on December 19 and end on Jan. 10, 2021, the timetable shows.

Schools had been closed Since March 20 as part of the measures to control the spread of Covid19. President Museveni allowed them to re-open for final year students and candidates this past Sunday.

The above days only cover candidates and final year classes of students in tertiary institutions owned by the government.

Boarding schools and institutions have been asked to arrange to receive learners on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11.  Institutions with large number of students have been asked to avoid crowding by staggering arrivals.
