COVID-19 UPDATE: Uganda confirms 247 new cases

UGANDA: The Ministry of Health has confirmed 247 new COVID-19 cases from tests that were carried out on Sunday, September 27,2020 rising the tally number of cases in Uganda to 7,777.

From the new cases, 224 cases were alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases.

Kampala continues to be the prime region for increasing cases day by day walloping over 116 of the 247 new cases confirmed on Sunday. Below is the general stats for the cases confirmed by the Ministry.

“Kampala (116), Luwero (17), Iganga (9), Gulu (8), Agago (7), Moyo (7), Wakiso (5), Busia (4), Hoima (3), Jinja (6), Masaka (4), Mayuge (3), Mbale (4), Arua (3), Budaka (2), Bulambuli (2), Kaliro (1), Kanungu (2)Kisoro (2), Kiryandongo (2), Kumi (2), Mukono (2), Pallisa (2), Buikwe (1), Bundibugyo (1), Bunyangabu (1), Buvuma (1), Kyotera (1), Lira (1), Moroto (1), Nebbi (1), Ntungamo (1), Tororo (1) and Zombo (1),” reads a statement from MOH.

Additionally, 23 returnees with 28 from Saudi Arabia, 4 from India and 1 from South Sudan tested positive for COVID-19.

The Ministry also confirmed that 2 new deaths of Covid-19 were registered, all residents from within Kampala, which brings the death toll to 75 while 4,033 have recovered from the coronavirus.
