BREAKING NEWS! Tears, Excitement as NUP Releases final list of MP flag bearers for Central Region

The executive committee of the National Unity Platform (NUP) has finally released the list of successful flag bearers for central region after re-evaluation .Sources within the party reveal that there was stiff competition in picking candidates for the Kampala Metropolitan area, one of NUP’s strongholds.“Some parts of the country presented between one and two competitors and some of the slots were unopposed. NUP did not get candidates for some constituencies in greater North and West,” the source said.

Ms Mercy Walukamba, the party chairperson for the electoral committee, said that all the successful candidates underwent a rigorous process to sieve out the would-be incompetent leaders in their various constituencies.“We have selected these people using various yardsticks. Where we could have missed out someone’s competence, we asked them to appeal and a review was carried out forthwith, to make sure we have the right people,” she said.

On Friday afternoon, NUP released a list of the succesful candidates for central region after re-evaluation.In Makindye, a strong party fighter, David Musiri was dropped for Allan Ssewanyana who recently crossed from the Democratic Party something that has angered a section of party supporters.
