Nambooze pleads to Museveni – “Don’t teargas our Lord Mayor as he returns home on Monday”

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Betty Nambooze Bakireke has pleaded to President YK Museveni to restrain from directing police and the military to unleash teargas and other forms of brutality on Monday to the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago as he returns home from Naorirobi on Monday.

The embattled Kampala Lord Mayor, has spent the last 2 weeks receiving treatment at Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi having suffered a strange respiratory condition.

While addressing supporters at her Nakabago home in Mukono this Saturday afternoon Nambooze a known strong hearted friend and close ally of Erias Lukwago said she had spoken to the Lord Mayor who assured her he was well and out of danger.

Lukwago assured her he would be back home on Monday.

Nambooze says Lukwago will be landing at Entebbe on Monday at 11am and will address a news conference at the VIP lounge whereafter he will be driving straight to his Wakaliga home in Rubaga Division.

Anticipating that some enthusiastic supporters might step forward to show Lukwago some love along Entebe Road because he too has always been there for them, Nambooze called on police to restrain from unleasing teargas on them as they received back their beloved colleague.

She said unleasing brutality onto the Lord Mayor as he comes back from delicate treatment abroad will be inhuman and will cause the regime to be perceived by many people as desiring to have him assassinated “because much as he has been discharged back home, he will be taking off some more days to become fully recovered.”
