124 NUP Members in Northern Uganda join NRM just months to elections

The NRM party in Nwoya District has welcomed over 124 National Unity Platform (NUP) members including coordinators who crossed and handed over their instruments of office to ruling party.

The 124 NUP members who decided to join Museveni’s NRM are from Anaka town Council in Nwoya district.

The defected NUP diehards were received during the launch of village campaign of door to door for NRM party in the 2021 general election where they handed over NUP party structure book, voters registry book, NUP stamp for Nwoya district and appointment letter of Ocira Bosco.

The members said they left NUP after the party started to mobilise them to carry out chaotic riots and destroy the infrastructure in their area.

They said they were not ready to participate in such criminality because politics is not a matter of life and death.

They displayed letters of appointment and membership cards before the press as evidence since their superiors in NUP have a tendency of disowning those who leave the party.

The departure is a big blow to Hon Robert Kyagulanyi the NUP presidential candidate who is camped in the north campaigning with one month left to polling.
