KAMPALA: News coming from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirm that another high profile person at the Ministry has succumbed to Covid-19.
The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Amb Patrick Mugoya confirmed on Monday morning that veteran diplomat Amb. Stephen Nabeta died of the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
“I have just heard from a colleague in New York who talked to the family and confirmed it. This is a double tragedy for us because we just lost another diplomat, Amb. Naigaga in Nairobi last weekend,” Mugoya told the Daily Express Reporter.
Amb. Nabeeta was one of the first ambassador appointments by the NRM government, having been posted to Kigali Rwanda in 1986.
Over the years, he served among others as the head of Protocol and as the Foreign Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary between 1996-1998.
Outside Diplomacy, Nabeta was also one of the founders and Board Chairman of Mercantile Credit Bank.
