Journalist Robbed Shs. 600,000, Camera & Laptop by on Gunpoint

Suspected armed robbers travelling in a Toyota Premio white in colour robbed Okello Emmanuel, a journalist with Uganda Radio Network in the Albertine region taking away Sh. 600,000, new laptop, camera among other property.

According to Okello, he was heading to his village in Buhirigi, when the thugs found him at Central Primary School in Kiganda, Hoima city and came to him in disguise as tax men.

“They stopped and offered me a lift but on the way, one of the man pulled out a gun and told me to surrender what I had,” Okello said in a phone interview with Daily Express.

He added that face was wrapped with a cloth and they turned back the vehicle towards Hoima. Upon reaching Butanjwa, Okello says the thugs pulled him out and dumped him by the roadside.

“In the twinkle of an eye they put me on a gun point and made a U-turn after reaching Lagoon and blindfolded me using his shirt as they were heading to Kampala” Okello narrates the incident.

Okello adds that the thugs had many bags in the vehicle meaning they were targeting people with bags around Hoima city

Okello is currently admitted at Kabalega medical center, he was picked by bodabodas who were passing by and taken to the clinic.
