Kyotera District Woman MP, Robina Ssentongo, 58, is dead. Reports reaching the Daily Express confirm that the legislator succumbed to COVID-19.
The speaker of parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga on Friday morning announced the untimely death of Robina Ssentongo who has been representing Kyotera on the Democratic Party (DP).
Ms. Ssentongo becomes the third parliamentarian to succumb to COVID-19 in just a space of three months after her counterparts Rehema Watongola (Kamuli Municipality) and Faith Alupo (Pallisa Woman MP) died of the disease.
Ssentongo’s death also comes barely a day after former Masaka district woman MP and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the same seat, Freda Nanziri Kase Mubanda, died at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where she had been admitted.
At the time of her death, the Ministry of Health had on Thursday recorded 628 new covid-19 cases bring the total number of infections to 29,361 and 228 deaths.
