Ugandan human rights lawyer and Activist Mr. Nicholas Opiyo has been arrested by plain cloth security men, according to info reaching our desk from his aides.
Opiyo is said to have been arrested from Kamwokya in Kampala and driven to an unknown destination.
Grounds for the arrest were yet to be established as security agencies had not yet commented on the matter.
Opiyo heads the country’s robust human rights defence organization, Chapter Four Uganda and is also the representative of the Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) whose accounts were blocked by security last week on accusations of supporting terrorism in Uganda.
