Residents of Kapeeka, a small town in Nakaseke district, woke to a grisly scene on Wednesday morning after a lorry that was transporting sand overturned in the middle of the road, killing four men who were on board.
The accident believed to have been the first of its magnitude in the area occurred at around 5.00am as the tipper was moving through Kapeeka town en route to Kampala.
Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred after the driver of the heavily loaded truck lost control.
The Savannah Regional Police spokesman, Issa Semwogerere, identified two of the victims as Geoffrey Kiconco and Robert Masaba, both residents of Kapeeka town.
The other two had not yet been identified by press time.
