Police in Rukungiri is investigating circumstances under which a 22-year-old Racheal Namara a resident of Rushaya village Bwambara sub-county in Rukungiri district was stabbed with a spear to death.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, it is alleged that on the Sunday at around 7:00 pm, Namara while at her home doing domestic work with her two young children, was confronted by a suspect named Abel.
“Abel from nowhere emerged with a spear and wounded her around the stomach. She ran to the neighbour Prossy Kyarimpa while making an alarm with her intestines falling out. Kyarimpa gave her first aid by tying the stomach with a piece of kitenge cloth,” Maate noted.
He said Kyarimba then notified Namara’s husband Dennis Tugumisirize who organised a vehicle and rushed her to Nyakibale Hospital for treatment where she, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
“A report was made by her husband at Rukungiri Police Station and the scene was visited by a team of homicide detectives led by the OC CID and uniformed personnel, post-mortem was done and inquiries are at hand. The suspect is on the run,” Maate said
