Emmanuel Ssembuusi Butebi father of Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake has come to publicly declare his support for Museveni and the NRM party despite his sonbeing an ardent member of the National Unity Platform.
Ssembusi came out to declare that he is a strong supporter of the NRM party, although his son belongs to the National Unity Platform (NUP).
“I support his MP candidature on the NUP ticket and because he is my son, but I belong to the NRM,” Butebi said.
Last year, rumours circulated that Ssembusi wanted to contest for district chairperson, National Resistance Movement (NRM), but he did not. Butebi also declined to comment on the matter.
He has also since admitted having supported John Mary Bugembe, the NRM flag-bearer for the Mityana Municipality MP seat, during the party primaries in September last year.
“I supported him because he was NRM’s best candidate, but now I am supporting my son for the Mityana Municipality MP seat,” Butebi said.
It should be noted that Francis Zaake Butebi is seeking to retain his position as Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament in the 2021 Elections on NUP ticket.
