PHOTOS: Police blocks Amuriat from campaigning in Kasese

With only 9 days left to the polling day for Presidential candidates, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate, Patrick Oboi Amuriat who is in Western Uganda intending to canvass for votes in Kasese district has been blocked by police from accessing the region.

Amuriat had set off from Bushenyi town where he spent a night and had also planned to campaign in Ntoroko and Bundibugyo.

Kasese is among the 12 district which the Electoral Commission barred candidates from campaigning due to the increasing COVID-19 infections and persistent violation of SOPs.

While on his way, Amuriat was welcomed by a roadblock at Katunguru, a boundary between Rubirizi and Kasese districts.

He was asked to get into a Police pickup which he refused arguing that he often gets assaulted whenever he is put into a police car.

This forced the police to use force. He was bundled in a Police truck and driven off towards Bundibugyo in a bid to prevent him from campaigning in Kasese district.

During the fracas, a policeman allocated to Amuriat was injured. He got a cut just below his left eye.
