LC1 Chairman arrested for defiling 14 yr old girl

FORT PORTAL, UGANDA: Police in Fort Portal have arrested and put in custody the chairperson for Bwera village LC1 Rajab Baguma, 70, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.

The girl whose names have been unmentioned by this website is said to have confessed that Baguma slept with her three times at his farm.

She said Baguma met her as she was going to fetch water and offered her sh5,000 to buy soda on Christmas Day and later asked her to meet him at the farm for other gifts.

“The chairman has been giving me sh5,000 every two days to buy soda and chapati. He also asked me to meet him at his farm,” she said.

Peruth Kemigisa, the mother of the victim, said she came to know about the chairman’s affair with her daughter after seeing her with new shoes.

According to Kemigisha, the girl said she had gotten them from Baguma after he allegedly slept with her.

John Oese, the Kabarole district police commander, said a file has been opened in connection with the case and the suspect arrested on charges of defilement.
