KAMPALA, UGANDA: – With just two days to the polls, the Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed that each polling station will receive extra ballot papers to cater for emergencies.
“As a measure to provide for emergencies such as ballot papers that may be spoilt before being cast, the commission will provide for extra ballot papers to cater for such emergency situations,” the Commission spokesperson, Paul Bukenya told this website in an interview on Sunday evening.
The ballot papers Bukenya said are in the bundle of 50 by design of print and production.
“For instance, if a polling station has 130 voters it will automatically receive three bundles with 150 ballot papers,” he said.
Security and safety of electoral rules
Amidst reports of electoral materials being delivered with broken seals in different parts of the country last week, the Electoral Commission (EC) has revealed that the security and safety measures of the materials were not violated.
The materials that were dispatched included the ones for presidential and parliamentary elections.
Uganda will be going to the polls on Thursday Jan 14 to cast votes for presidency and parliamentary positions.
