Gov’t Sets 1st March for Semi-candidates classes to resume as schools reopen

KAMPALA, UGANDA: President Yoweri Museveni has announced that semi candidate (P.6, S.3 & S.5) classes will report on March 2021 as schools reopen further.

Museveni confirmed this in Thursday’s where he made clarifications about reopening of schools and the current state of Covid-19 in the country.

According to Museveni, the candidate classes contribute about 1.3 Million of the 15 Million learners across all learning institutions in the country and allowing the semi candidates to report to schools translates the number to approximately 3 Million learners.

The President asserted that after the candidates finalizing the exams exams on March 31st will allow more space for the learners to study without fears of overcrowding which is the strongest measure against the COVID-19.

Schools in Uganda were suspended on 18th March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and candidate classes were only allowed to resume in a staggered manner in September until last week when the cabinet resolved to reopen other classes.
