Mathias Walukaga Wins Kyengera Town Council Mayoral seat

2021 ELECTIONS: Kadongo Kamu singer Sir Mathias Walukagga has emerged winner of the mayoral seat in Kyengera Town Council after Wednesday’s local council elections after defeating rivals in the race.

Walukagga who was contesting on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket defeated over 4 other contenders in the tight race to take the Mayoral seat.

Some of the losers in the race have since conceded defeat and promised to work with the victorious parties for the betterment of their town council.

Among these is James Malinga, who agreed that even before the final results were declared, NUP’s Walukagga was leading with a higher margin.

“Thank you very much the people of Kyengera Town council who supported my candidacy for mayorship. I thank you for the support and prayers that have lifted my spirits. And I thank you for the countless acts of courage, generosity, and grace that I have witnessed during this campaign,” Malinga said.

Prior to the milestone, Walukagga narrowly survived being arrested by police who carried out a raid at his home on Tuesday night.

Congratulations to Walukagga!
