Byabashaija reshuffles top prisons officers in new appointments

KAMPALA, UGANDA: Dr Johnson Byabashaija, the Commissioner-General of Prisons has made new prison appointments, reshuffled and sent some senior prisons officers on leave.

According to the announcement made on Monday, Byabashaija has appointed ACP Stephen Lugonda, who has been at the Prisons Headquarters as the Ag. Commissioner of Prisons, Human Resource Planning and Development, SSP David Charles Opio, who was the DPC Gulu, has been appointed Regional Prisons Commander North Eastern Region. He takes over from SSP Sam Edotu, who proceeds on accumulated leave.

SP Alfred Alula, Officer in Charge, Uganda Prison Otuke has been appointed Staff Officer, Regional Prisons Headquarters, Northern Region.

Regarding transfers, ACP Fred Kajubi Kayongo, who has been the Regional Prisons Commander Mid-Central, has been transferred to Prisons Headquarters in the Directorate of Human Resource Management for duty. He hands over the region to SSP Godfrey Obbo, DPC Mityana, who has been appointed Regional Prisons Commander, Mid-Central Region.

ACP Robert Jolly Bamutura, the Regional Prisons Commander, North Western Region has been transferred to Central Region as Regional Prisons Commander. He hands over the Region to SSP Henry Natwaluma, who has been appointed Regional Prisons Commander, North Western Region.

ACP Deogratious Sabba, the Officer in Charge of the Prison Farm in Ibuga has gone on leave pending his retirement. According to Byabashaija, he has applied for retirement. Sabba hands over the Station to SSP Godfrey Komakech, the Officer in Charge of the Prison Farm in Mubuku.

SP Francis Lwanga, the Officer in Charge of the Prison in Ntungamo has been transferred to the Prison Farm in Mubuku as Officer in Charge.

SP Anita Karungi, the Officer in Charge of the Prison in Buwambo has been transferred to the Prison in Ntungamo as Officer in Charge. She hands over the Station to SP Victoria Achan, who has been in charge of the Women Prison in Luzira.
