ISINGIRO DISTRICT, UGANDA: Police are hunting for three armed thugs that shot dead one Lawrence Sebusande at his Rwakinono home, in Isingiro district.
According to police the thugs also caned the deceased’s wife Julian Mbabazi into a coma.
Police detectives said that the thugs wore overall jackets and dark boots. The details were established after they lifted soil samples as they combed for evidence.
“They caned Mbabazi who yelled endlessly though no one came to her rescue. She was asked to kneel on the floor, facing the wall, for a specific period of time as they continued to beat her,” said a detective.
The incident happened at 11:00pm Wednesday night, according to the police report.
A copy seen by the New Vision indicates that; “Last night at 11:00pm at the home of a one Sebusande a resident of Rwakinono cell, Isingiro was attacked by unknown assailants three in number armed with a rifle and sticks. They shot him dead and seriously beat up his wife Mbabazi who is currently admitted at Nakivale health centre three for treatment.”
The body has since been taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem
So far, no suspects have been arrested. However, police have recovered one cartridge of an AK47 SMG rifle at the scene of the crime.
The motive of the attack remains unknown pending investigations.
