ADJUMANI, UGANDA: At least Six children have been killed on spot following an explosion in the Northern Uganda District of Adjumani, the Daily Express has learnt.
According to the district RDC Mr. Taban Peter Data, the 6 were among the 11 children who were playing in a yard, in Maaji II Refugee Settlement, Ukusijoni sub-county.
Preliminary reports indicate that the children came across a metallic object, picked it and it exploded, killing six on the spot and injuring others!
Trusted sources claim the object could be an old hand-propelled grenade suspected to have been dropped in the area during the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency period.
The incident comes barely a week after another explosive object killed two people and injured two others in Okawa village, Lewa Parish in Pakelle sub-county.
