ADJUMANI, UGANDA: Police in Adjumani District have shot dead a UPDF soldier who allegedly got involved in an armed robbery of a native doctor in Ciforo central village, Ciforo sub-county.
The soldier Mohammad Ambaga, and 3 others yesterday afternoon stormed the shrine of Muraa Josephine in day light armed robbery.
Ambaga reportedly placed Muraa under gunpoint with a pistol while his three colleagues ransacked the shrine of the native doctor for money and valuables.
Afterwards, they took off on a numberless motorcycle with an unspecified amount of money robbed from Muraa, before encountering a Police patrol, where Ambaga, was shot dead in a fire exchange with Police after injuring one Wilson Obulejo.
Mugweri, said documents recovered from the pockets of Ambaga, indicate that he’s attached to the security details of the royal guards of Toro kingdom but absconded from duty from Kampala before surfacing in Adjumani to stage the robbery.
This was revealed by Moses Mugweri, the Adjumani Deputy Resident District Commissioner.
His death follows another incident in Mbarara city on Tuesday where a private security guard also gunned down a UPDF soldier attached to second division barracks in Mbarara.
