ENTEBBE MUNICIPALITY, UGANDA: Police in Entebbe Municipality has arrested 7 suspects as investigations into the murder of a one Ssemugenyi Hakim 25, a local fisherman deepens.
According to Police reports, Ssemugenyi’s body was found floating on water at Ranoma Landing site at the Kava-Ennyanja Island on February 28, 2021.
The incident was reported to police by the LCI chairperson of Kava-Ennyanja Island in Bussi Sub-county, Wakiso District.
“It is alleged that the deceased was last seen alive on the February 25, 2021 while fishing with his friends, the seven people who have since been arrested to aid investigations into their colleague’s demise,” Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said in a statement issued Monday afternoon.
Owoyesigyire added that detectives and scene of crime officers visited the scene and the body of the deceased was found tied with a rope on heavy stone, floating on water.
“The police has so far intensified investigations into the incident and seven suspects have been arrested to help in the investigations,” he said.
Investigations into the matter, according to police, are underway.
