The Uganda Police Criminal Investigation Directorate have grilled Internal Security Organization Boss Mr Taban Amin over his involvement in defrauding US Dollars Eight Million ($8m) from an American investor.
The development was confirmed by CID Spokesperson Charles Twine who stated that Amin is among other seven suspects who are being investigated by police.
“Detectives are quizzing the Deputy Director of Internal Security Organisation Taban Amin for allegedly participating in fraud in which a US citizens were defrauded of $8 million”.
Taban, the son of former dictator Idi Amin who is the Deputy ISO Director in charge of West Nile, was by publication being detained by police at the CID Offices in Kibuli.
The Daily Express has exclusively understood that Taban is being grilled on President Museveni’s directives.
According to a source that intimated to us, Museveni issued the directives to ensure that Taban explains his role in the gold scandal that threatened to taint Uganda’s lucrative gold trade.
It’s said if found liable he will be sacked and prosecuted in courts of law.
The gold scam which was busted weeks ago by police involved one Lt Enoch Katwesigye, a retired UPDF officer; City Lawyer Simon Peter Musangala and a Police Officer identified as Martin Bwayo.
The trio was on February 17th charged with Money Laundering before Anti-Corruption Court.
