UBTEB 2020 Exams set to kickoff today

National Certificate exams which were supposed to be done in November/ December last year will start on Monday (March 15, 2021), UBTEB has revealed.

The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board is today March 15, set to conduct the deferred 2020 exams in over 400 technical institutes across the country.

While addressing journalists on Monday morning at UBTEB offices in Ntinda, Onesmus Oyesigye, the UBTEB Executive Secretary said students pursuing certificates in various programs were supposed to sit for their exams last year between November and December but due to covid-19, the exercise was postponed.

He said a total of 30,069 students will sit for their examinations from 460 centers across the country.

Oyesigye adds that the board has deployed 2,000 supervisors, 15,000 practical examiners and 443 scouts asking heads of institutions to observe the Standard Operation Procedures put in place by the ministry of health while conducting the exams.

He disclosed that standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19 will strictly be adhered to. This he said has increased the space they will be using and the cost of exams.

“The board appeals to heads of centres and candidates to adhere and observe SOPs on Covid-19 control issued by the health and education ministries respectively,” he said.

According to Oyesigye, year two semester two March in-take business and agriculture exams for selected institutions will kick-off on March 22.

While year one 2020 National Technical Certificate and UCPC-Agriculture will start on July 19.

The examinations for year one semester two which were differed from May/June 2020, 2019/2020 Technical/ Vocational Diploma will kick-off on April 8.

He added that Year one 2019/2020 semester two differed May/June 2020 exams (Physical and Biological Sciences) are scheduled to kick-off on July 19, 2021.
