Two S.4 Male Students Shot Dead, One Injured While Sneaking into Girls’ School

The dead have been identified as Rubangakene Kenneth and Emmanuel Okeny and the injured is identified as Ogen-rwot Jasper.

GULU CITY, UGANDA: At least two students of St Joseph College of Layibi in Gulu City have been confirmed shot dead after they and eight other students allegedly intrude at Bright Valley Girls secondary school in Bar-dege/Layibi division.

According to reports, the students, ten in number are said to have escaped from their school on Wednesday night at around 9:50pm and snaked into Bright Valley Girls’ School and attempted to go straight to the girl’s dormitory to meet their lovers.

This prompted the security guards at the girls college to open fire at them, thinking they were thugs, and in the process, two were shot dead instantly while one sustained injuries and is currently admitted at Lacor Hospital for medical observation with injuries from the shot.

The dead have been identified as Rubangakene Kenneth and Emmanuel Okeny and the injured is identified as Ogen-rwot Jasper.

Three others were arrested and are currently under police custody while the remaining four took off and returned to the school.

The Head teacher of St Joseph College of Layibi, Mr. David Otii visited the scene on Thursday morning and said he was going to conduct a roll call to ascertain the number of students missing.
