David Owori: Former SC Villa Midfielder signs four-year deal with Spanish club

Former Sports Club Villa midfielder David Owori has penned down a four year deal with Spanish fourth division outfit Velez CF.

The announcement of his signing was confirmed by the Malaga based club on Tuesday, 23rd March 2021.

Our first new player for next season has arrived in Vélez-Málaga. David is a 22-year-old versatile midfielder whose main strengths are speed, running ability and functional technique. He can play in both bands and also in the center of the field,” reads part of the statement form Velez FC. We will use the time well until next season begins to help David on and off the field adjust to our team and club

Owori, an offensive and defensive midfielder left the country at the beginning of the year after a promising season with the Jogoos.

The decision to leave the country meant that Owori was not able to play at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament hosted by Cameroon in January 2021.

He had been approached for a contract extension at SC Villa, a deal that he politely turned down as well as another opportunity to join the current Uganda Premier League table leaders, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

He has since expressed gratitude upon the achievement that he envisages as a stepping stone in his career.

“I want to use this platform to exploit my full potential as i serve the club to the best of my expectations and to elevate my career further” Owori disclosed.

Owori has featured for a number of clubs in Uganda as Nsambya, Proline and Sports Club Villa.

He also played for Bukedi Province in the FUFA inter-provinces tournament (FUFA Drum).

He is popularly referred to as “Colgate” in the football circles.
