Veteran journalist Kavuma Kaggwa, 85, dead

Joseph Kavuma Kaggwa was a regular contributor at Vision Group.

Veteran journalist Joseph Mukuba Kavuma Kaggwa has passed on this morning, family sources have confirmed to Daily Express.

Kaggwa, 85, had supper with relatives at his home in Seeta, Mukono last night and went to bed at around 10pm. However, at around 3am he called relatives for help after feeling that he could not breathe well.

The situation worsened and he breathed his last breath at 5am. Family sources confirmed the sad news to New Vision, adding that Kaggwa was suffering from high blood pressure.

His body is currently at Rhino Funeral Home while burial arrangements will be communicated later.

Kaggwa was a regular contributor at Vision Group.

He was once a Buganda Kingdom advisor. He also worked with Kenya Airways.

Kaggwa has also been described as a freedom fighter who supported the struggle for liberation while living in exile in Kenya.

Sources who preferred anonymity say the deceased was a close confidant of President Yoweri Museveni.
