HORROR! Lwengo Headteacher hacks wife and baby, dumps bodies in pit latrine

Police in Lwengo district have arrested and put under custody a 47-year-old headteacher on allegations of killing his wife and their four months old baby.

The suspect, George William Tugume, 47, is a deputy headteacher of Kaboyo Primary School who is alleged to have hacked his wife Rose Katushabe, 24, and the baby and dumped their amputated bodies in a pit latrine.

The incident according to local authorities happened in Industrial Zone in Lwengo town council between five and seven days ago.

one of the residents in the area says Tugume and Katushabe were allegedly engaged in a longstanding domestic dispute, which local leaders and community members tried to resolve in vain.

Residents got concerned after Katushabe went missing for a week following a fight with her husband yet her known mobile phone number was off.

According to Antony Luwaga, the Lwengo sub-county councilor, they searched for her and eventually discovered the two decomposing bodies in the pit latrine at their home.

He further said that they notified Mbiriizi police which swung into action and arrested Tugume to save him from the mob that wanted to lynch him for his alleged crime.

Peter Akampurira, the Lwengo District Police Commander, said they retrieved the bodies with the help of Masaka Fire Brigade Unit and community members and are waiting for a postmortem.

He appealed to the community members not to destroy Tugume’s home and property since the police are investigating the crime.

He added that Tugume is being detained at Miriizi police station while investigations continue to establish the cause.
