Two People Perish in Nasty Accident along Kampala-Gulu Highway

NAKASONGOLA: At least two people have been confirmed dead after a nasty road accident in Nakasongola along the Kampala-Gulu highway involving a ministry of Agriculture vehicle.

The accident which occurred at Kakira, Katuugo sub-county in in Nakasongola district on Wednesday afternoon left four others with severe injuries and admitted to the hospital for further medical attention.

Katuugo police station commander, Innocent Sande says that the Isuzu double-cabin vehicle, registration number UG 2474A carrying a casket was heading to Pader district from Kampala when the tragedy occurred.

He adds that the accident was caused by a puncture on the hind tyre on the co-driver’s seat which resulted in the vehicle losing control and swerving off the road before overturning.

The rescue team found that two of the occupants died on spot. They include a woman and a baby girl aged about 3 years. The injured were taken to St. Franciscan health center, Kakooge, and the bodies to Nakasongola health center IV mortuary.
