Fire Guts Joint Medical Stores Warehouse, Drugs worth 17billions lost

The fire started in the afternoon however authorities are not yet certain about the cause.

Fire has gutted the Joint Medical Stores Warehouse in Nakawa Industrial Area.

The fire whose cause is yet to be known started around 11 am on Friday at the medical store outlet and has left property and drugs worth millions destroyed to ashes.

According to a tweet from Daily Monitor, that the fire which set a dark smoke on the sky started from the Joint Medical Stores and spread to Blue Band and Electronics warehouses on 5th street in Industrial, Kampala.

By press time, firefighters were effortlessly working hard to put out the fire to save the entire infrastructure.

The private pharmaceutical store serving at least 3000 medical facilities was established in 1979 as a joint venture between Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) and Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB). JMS is licensed by National Drug Authority to engage in the import, export, wholesale of medicines and related health care supplies.
