UPDF medics vaccinate church leaders against COVID-19

A team of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) medical workers led by Lt A.W. Mugonyi in collaboration with the Ministry of Health have carried out a COVID-19 vaccination campaign aimed at vaccinating church leaders, their families, and followers at the City of the Lord Church in Kalerwe, a Kampala suburb.

In a press release issued by UPDF deputy spokesperson Deo Akiiki, the army was invited by the health ministry to give back up manpower and expertise in COVID-19 vaccination.

The activity was blessed by the overseer of Kawempe pentecostal churches Bishop Peter Mutebi who commended UPDF and the ministry for taking the church into consideration.

The campaign had a target of vaccinating over 500 church members and the people from the neighbourhood on Friday.

Religious leaders who got their jabs implored Ugandans to play their role and get vaccinated and ignore social media misinformation.

‘No father can give poison to his own children thus the government is trustworthy and we thank the UPDF and the Ministry of Health for the good work,’ Moses Odongo one of the church leaders said.
