Paris Saint Germaine (PSG) and Chelsea Football club both qualified on Tuesday to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League despite losing 1-0 against Bayern Munich and FC Porto respectively, thanks to the first leg result.
PSG avenged last year’s loss against the Bavarians in the UCL finals with a 3-3 aggregate score, and the away goals at the Alianz Arena were enough to see Mauricio Pochettino’s men secure the UCL Semi-final spot.
Former PSG forward, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s 28th-minute goal gave the visitors hope but Mauricio Pochettino’s men clung on to progress as the match ended 1-0.
Chelsea on the other hand, whose match against Porto was a game of few chances until the last minute when Porto’s Mehdi Taremi scored an absolute belter from Nanu’s cross with an overhead kick to end the match 0-1 (2-1) on agrregate for the London side.
Action returns today in the other UCL Quarterfinals tie when Dortmund host Manchester City at the Signal Iduna Park with the English side leading 2-1 in last week’s Etihad score, while Liverpool will play hosts to Real Madrid at Anfield with the los Blancos commanding a 3-1 lead from the score in spain last week.
UCL Semi-final ties
Winners of the tie between Man City and Dortmund will face PSG, while Real Madrid/ Liverpool face Chelsea FC in the other semi final encounter of the UEFA Champions League.
This means an all-English UCL final is possible, should Liverpool and Man City find their way out today to reach the Semis.
