Businessman intercepted, robbed by armed gunmen in Kyenjojo

Police are hunting for a cyclist who was among three suspected robbers that intercepted a businessman and stole his sh1.5m in Kyenjojo district.

The cyclist, whose identity has not been confirmed fled from the scene on motorcycle registration number UFD 255F- Bajaj boxer – with the stolen money, according to a police report referenced CRB 317/21.

Detectives said the suspects who were armed with two rifles first stopped Paul Kasaija,52, a prominent businessman in the district, robbed and ordered him to sit on the roadside before they fled.

The incident happened at Nyamabuga cell in Rugombe trading centre, Kyenjojo, on Wednesday.

So far, police have arrested two of the cyclist’s accomplices. They are; Peter Mwesigye, who was shot and injured on the leg and Attata Murungi.

All are admitted at Buhinga regional hospital.
