Barely a day after Ugandans learnt about the Kabaka’s ailing condition, a letter purported to be from the kingdom has surfaced and gone viral on social media allegiging that Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has been sacked by the sickly king.

However, the Daily Express News fact-check team has confirmed that the letter, whose sources remain unknown is untrue and was not issued by the Kabaka as alleged.

The statement allegedly’ fabricated Kingdom loyalists opposed to Katikkiro Mayiga further claims the Kabaka would announce a new prime minister of the kingdom by April 19, 2021.

This letter is fake and untrue, our fact-check team has thoroughly confirmed

The letter allegedly from the Kingdom looks untrue because documents form the palace always have a header written on dark blue ink yet this particular one is written in black and white.

The signature purported to be of the Kabaka also slightly looks different from that of the King appearing on other documents.

Furtherly, it would be very coincidental and reactive that the Kabaka fire Mayiga, just a day after the birthday celebrations, and for what reason anyway would it be to relieve the premier of his duties? for bringing to the public sickly??

It should also be noted that all the Kingdom’s social media pages have not posted the letter in question hence making it fake.,

On April 13, Kabaka Mutebi appeared for his 66th birthday celebration looking frail and sick after spending months without being seen in public.
