Former Kakuuto MP and a member of the East African Legislative Assembly, Hon Mathias Kasamba is dead.
Kasamba, who was also the Director of Mobilisation and Cadre Identification at the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) passed on today at Nakasero Hospital where he has been hospitalized.
The NRM Secretary General Hon Justine Kasule Lumumba in her statement this evening confirmed the death of the former legislators and said that the government is in touch with the late Mathias Kasamba family and will communicate any developments about his burial as they unfold.
“The NRM Secretariat regrets to announce the passing on of our colleague, Hon Mathias Kasamba, the Director of Mobilisation and Cadre Identification, and member of the East African Legislative Assembly,” a statement from Kasule Lumumba read in part.
“We are in touch with the family and Nakasero Hospital where he had been hospitalized. We shall keep you posted about any future developments. May his soul rest in peace.”- she added
Back in 1996, Kasamba was involved in a motor accident that took away his left arm.
The cause of death remains is unclear. However, chatter in corridors of power is Kasamba, also a prominent farmer, succumbed to COVID-19.
