Police in Rubanda has started investigation on the gruesome murder of a 70-year old woman who was found lying dead with private parts missing.
The deceased identified as Rosemary Bagumirenda a resident of Kihengamo village in Hamurwa sub-county Rubanda district was murdered by yet to known assailants on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Bagumirenda’s deceased body was discovered at around 7 am in Nyakanengo village, Ruhonwa parish in the same sub-county.
Polly Muhangi, The Hamurwa Sub-county chairperson says that Bagumirenda left her home on Saturday evening going to Nyakanengo trading centre and did not come back.
The locals then mounted a search until her body was found dumped in the swamp near the well in the morning of the next day.
Maate told Daily Express that Police visited the scene, did a postmortem and handed over the body for burial.
The murder case has since been registered at Rubanda Central Police station on Reference number CRB 190/2021
