Bobi Wine’s home sealed off by UPDF ahead of Museveni Swearing-in

Security agencies in a joint force of Uganda Police and Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) have sealed off the former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s home as the countdown to Museveni’s inauguration as President nears.

President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, 76 will be sworn in on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Kololo Independence Grounds Under the theme; ‘Securing your future’. This will Museveni’s sixth term in office as Uganda’s President since 1986.

The UPDF Spokesperson, Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso says the intelligence units have information showing that Kyagulanyi is planning to illegally swear in self and cause chaos in the city to disrupt the official ceremony at Kololo.

The Kyadondo East MP confirmed on twitter that security agencies had sealed off his premises in Magere decrying the dictatorial rule and tyranny of Museveni’s government

“My home is surrounded by the police and military! Soldiers are back to the streets. This is how the dictator plans to swear himself in,” Bobi Wine tweeted on Monday morning.

The incumbent, Museveni was declared winner of the January 14, 2021, elections beating his closest rival Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP).
