Kira Road DPC Mathias Turyasingura Succumbs to Covid-19

The District Police Commander (DPC) of Kira Road Police Stattion, Sp. Mathias Turyasingura has succumbed to Covid-19, Police and relatives have confirmed.

According to reports confirmed by Daily Express, Turyasingura passed on at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he was admitted with Covid-19 related symptoms.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the development revealing that the DPC had lost the battle to Covid19.

Turyasingura had for days been fighting for his life in the intensive care unit at Mulago.

Sources privy to this website expressed with grief the loss of such a police commander describing him as a down to earth officer.

“He has been a down to earth officer. He joined the 2007 police intake when Gen Kale Kayihura was the Inspector General of Police. He trained from Kabalye when Afande Kaweesi was the Commandant,” another source has told DailyExpress News.

“He did an intermediate course at Kaweweta , completed senior command and staff course before he was posted as DPC Kira road where he has been serving until he caught covid-19,” the source said.

“He was a good. He was in the same intake as to the likes of Mwesigwa Frank, Ruhweza and Polly Namaye. I will miss him,” another police officer said.

Born in Kabale district in western Uganda, the deceased had served in the Police force 14 years.

He trained at Kaweweta where he completed the Senior Command and Staff course before he was posted at Kira Road Police Station as DPC
