The President of the Republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today addressed the nation on COVID-19 situation in Uganda.
The address comes at a time when cases are increasingly soaring especially in Kampala and Wakiso an indicator that the country could be experiencing the second wave of the outbreak.
In the highlights of his address, The president hinted that today’s speech was mainly to sound a warning to the citizens as he prepares to meet with the national task force on Covid-19 on Wednesday to decide on the guidelines to follow.
Mr. Museveni has also stated that he will hold another address on Covid-19 towards the end of next week after meeting with the Ministry of Health and National taskforce.
The president also mentioned that Government is considering adopting more Covid-19 Vaccine doses from various suppliers following India’s decision to stop the export of AstraZeneca Vaccine.
In his address, Museveni urged citizens especially those in non-risky areas such as rural areas to avoid unnecessary travels to Kampala and Wakiso which have been highlighted as the epic centers of the deadly virus.
By press-time, the Ministry of Health confirmed 690 new covid-19 cases rising the cumulative cases of the deadly pandemic to 45,231 cases and 361 deaths.
