Greenhill Academy Secondary School in Kampala has closed and sent home students in Senior 1 and 2 after the positive cases of Covid-19 were registered at the school premises.
The school Headteacher Wilberforce Kamengo informed the parents and guardians of the students in a circular letter released on Monday May 31 that school has closed today and will reopen on June 14th 2021.
Kamengo said that the two weeks recess will enable the school adminstration to disinfect the premisses.
The Head of the School however did not disclose how many cases have been registered at the school noted that due to the new variant Covid 19 sweeping the entire country, it was necessary that they temporarily close the school.
Kamengo said that during the two weeks, the school will be closed for the two classes and they will conduct classes online until the students are back at school.
Kamengo also asked the students, parents and guardians to remain vigilant, observing Standard Operating Procedures in their homes as one way of curbing the disease.
The closure of Greenhill Academy comes at a time when there is an increase in cases of COVID 19 across the country that prompted the Ministry of Health to call for more strict measures aimed at curbing the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in Uganda.
