915 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in one day, 600 of these are in Kampala

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 915 new cases of #COVID-19, the highest tally ever since the second wave of the pandemic was confirmed in Uganda. The figure brings the cumulative cases of coronavirus confirmed to 48,676.

The Health ministry says the confirmed cases are for the tests carried out on Monday, May 31, 2021.

Out of the 915 cases, 910 are contacts and alerts while 5 cases were registered from truck drivers.

The breakdown of the new cases are:

Kampala (600) Wakiso (83) Gulu (34) Luwero (24) Kasese (18) Kiryandongo (16) Masaka (17) Mbale (13) Tororo (11) Mbarara (15) Mpigi (10) Lira (7) Arua (7) Kabarole (5) Zombo (5) Jinja (5) Hoima (4) Soroti (4)Bushenyi (4) Busia (3) Moyo (4) Namisindwa (3) Serere (2) Katakwi (2) Kyotera (2) Mubende (2) Mukono (2) Adjumani (1) Koboko (1) Kikuube (1) Amuru (1) Masindi (1) Amuru (3)

The development at a time when President Museveni is scheduled to meet with the National task force on Covid-19 today (Wednesday) to discuss more rigid measures and guidelines to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
