KAMPALA — Makerere University Don Dr. Peter Walekhwa, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Agribusiness and Natural Resources Economics, School of Agricultural Sciences, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has succumbed to Covid-19, the University management announced on Wednesday.
“Its with deep sadness that I announce the passing on of our brother, friend and Colleague Dr. Peter Walekhwa,” Dr. Deus Kamuntu Muhwezi, Makerere University Academic Staff Association wrote on staff mailing list.
Dr. Kamunyu said Dr. Walekhwa was admitted at Mulago Hospital on eveningTuesday and that he was in touch with his Dean and Colleagues but passed on, on Tuesday morning.
This website has learnt that Dr. Walekhwa sucuumbed to Coronavirus.
Dr. Walekhwa was also a member of MUASA – Social Social Support Fund and was enthusiastic about its growth.
Dr. Kamunyu described him as” a gentle soul and loved Makerere University”.
“On behalf of MUASA and the Board of Trustees of MUASA – Social Support Fund, I send deepest condolences to his wife, children, extended family and friends”.
“To his CAES family, we condole with you and pray to God for eternal comfort as we learn to live without our brother from today”.
