Barely a fortnight after Dr. Peter Walekhwa a Makerere University Don succumbed to Covid-19, another senior lecturer at the University – Dr Catherine Anena (PhD) has been pronounced dead.
The University confirmed in a statement released that Dr. Anena succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 which has claimed a number of lives from the academia.
The late Dr. Anena was a senior lecturer at the School of Women and Gender Studies who was pivotal at the institution according to a student Campus Bee contacted.
The University’s School of Women and Gender Studies took to their official social media space to express grief that has befallen them today.
“The school of women and gender studies regrets to inform you of the death of one of our staff, Dr Catherine Anena. Dr Anena had a gentle soul, was always jolly, and was a very happy person. She has been very resourceful and extremely handy. She had a lot of plans and dreams, both for the school and for her personal life. It’s incomprehensible that we’ve lost such a wonderful person. May the all-knowing God grant eternal rest to Dr. Anena’s soul.” Makerere University School of Women and Gender studies wrote on Facebook.
The late Dr Anena was also a Legal methods lecturer at the School of Law at the same University.
Burial arrangements of the deceased were yet to be communicated by presstime.
