RWAMPARA DISTRICT: – Police Rwampara has launched a manhunt for unknown assailants responsible for the murder of the Kabura Subcounty Councilor Fred Kabanda and dumped his body on the roadside.
According to the Police spokesperson for Rwizi Region Police Mr. Samson Kasasira, Kabanda was on Wednesday morning found dumped at a road junction at Kichwamba near Katukuru Trading Center unconscious and was rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Kasasira suggests that the assailants are believed to have picked Kabanda at Kikona – Ruti junction on Tuesday evening as he returned from a meeting at Rwampara District Headquarters and drove to kill him.
The Police Spokesman said that Kabanda’s mobile phone, money and other personal documents were robbed from him.
Kasasira adds that the body was taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary where a Postmortem examination was carried out and later handed over to the relatives for burial.
The case of murder was registered at Mbarara Central Police Station under reference number CRB 796/2021 to help in further investigation.
