KAMPALA: The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has declared that results of pupils who sat for the 2020 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) are expected to be out next week.
According to a statement issued by the body’s Public Relations Officer, Ms Jennifer Kalule, UNEB will first release results of the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) followed by the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results.
“We are finalizing the process for the release of the results,” Kalule said.
She adds that they are currently handling the award process of PLE which will be followed by UCE.
“We are now handling the award process of the PLE. This will be followed by UCE awards next week.Thereafter we hope to have results released soon” added Ms Kalule.
UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo together with UNEB chairperson Prof Mary Okwakol are expected to brief the education Minister Janet Museveni on students’ performance on Tuesday according to sources.
Statistics from UNEB indicate that a total of 749,811 candidates were registered to sit for PLE with over 68% of the candidates (513,091) being products of the Universal Primary Education program.
By gender, females were the majority at 53% (395,855) while 353,956 (47%) were males.
Out of these, 58 are inmates who sat for their exams from Luzira Maximum State Peneteniary.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic disruptions, the total number of the candidates were above the 2019 figure of 695,468 with a range of over 10,000 candidates.
