KAMPALA – The Catholic Church has been rocked by the sudden death of one of its popular priests, Fr. Dr. Benedict Ssentuuma.
According to a statement released by the Uganda Episcopal Conference, Fr. Ssentuuma is said to have suddenly passed away on Saturday morning as he was entering his car..
The statement further read that Ssentuuma collapsed dead immediately at Kitovu Rest House after what is believed be to a heart attack.
Fr. Dr. Ssentuuma was a priest of Masaka Diocese but was teaching at Ggaba National Seminary in Kampala.
“In yet another sad news this morning, Fr. Dr. Benedict Ssentuuma a priest of Masaka Diocese, who has been teaching at Ggaba National Seminary, has suddenly passed on this morning,” the UEC said in a statement.
The statement added:
“Fr. Dr. Benedict Ssentuuma was entering his car to go and say Mass for the Sisters at their convent”.
National seminary Ggaba is located in the outskates of Kampala – 9 kilometers from the city center towards Lake Victoria harbor.
It is one of the four national seminaries in Uganda owned by the Uganda Episcopal Conference. The others being St. Thomas Aquinas Katigondo seminary (philosophicum), Uganda Martyrs Seminary Alokolum (philosophicum), and St. Paul’s seminary Kinyamasika (Theologicum).
