Jose Chameleone has been named the inaugural President of the new Uganda Music Federation (UMF)

ENTERTAINMENT: Top musicians in the country have announced a new body dubbed the Uganda Music Federation and named Leone Island boss Jose Chameleone as its inaugural president.

The new musicians body is a break-away from the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) currently headed by Sanyu Cindy as its president.

In an interview with the NBS Uncut program, Jose Chameleone real names Joseph Mayanja revealed that the goal was not to fight other music bodies but rather to unite them towards a common objective.

He called upon artistes in the UMA umbrella body to join them as they lobby for better funding amid the trial times of the industry.

Legally, UMA is the only recognized association that heads all musicians in Uganda, However, Chameleone says that the body he had helped form 15 years ago had failed to achieve it’s objectives.

“I want to thank all of you that have elected and entrusted me with this big opportunity. I promise not to let you down and will lead you diligently. I call upon other organizations to come and join us because this is the father of all entertainment associations in Uganda. Our role will be to promote Ugandan music beyond borders. We are not here to fight anyone but to work with everyone for the good of our Industry.” Chameleone said.

Musicians such as Pallaso, Fefe Busi, Catherine Kusasira among others were all present as the new body was being unveiled.

According to inside sources within the new, this is a project that has been in the works and was endorsed by some of the biggest artists in the industry.
