Police truck overturns in Rukiga district, 3 Officers Injured

Three police officers attached to Rukiga Police station were on Saturday evening injured when the patrol vehicle they were traveling in overturned along the Muhanga –Kisizi road in Rukiga district.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police spokesman says the accident happened at about 6 pm in Kakirari Kahoko cell, in Kashambya Sub County.

The vehicle registration Number UP 7670 was being driven by SPC Dennis Oreeti who escaped with minor injuries while those who were badly injured are; D/C Muhumuza Tito and SPC Turinzirwe Simon.

Both are admitted at Kisizi Hospital with broken limbs.

“The driver who was going at high speed and failed to negotiate a corner. The vehicle veered off the road injuring two police officers,” Maate said.

The development came just hours after another police van in Rukungiri District was involved in a head-on collision with an ambulance along Rukungiri-Ntungamo road.
