Police arrest four over murder of six-year-old boy in Entebbe

Police in Entebbe Municipality has arrested four people in connection to murder of a 6-year-old boy identified as Eriya Kato Were who was found dead, four days after he went missing from his home.

The deceased’s body was found in a decomposing state by detectives after they had arrested the suspected kidnapper- who led them to the crime scene on Wednesday.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the suspects are said to have first demanded Shs4 million ransom from the parents before killing the innocent kid when the family declined to respond to their demands.

“The suspects had demanded Shs4m from the parents of the child as ransom to release him. The parent was able to recognize the voice of one suspect,’’ Owoyesigyire said.

Owoyesigyire told this reporter that the prime suspect ‘‘admitted to the kidnap and led the detectives to where the victim’s body was.’’

The infant’s death has since led to arrests of three other people who police suspect were accomplices in the crime.
